My name is Barton Comly Boyce, and I am seeking the position of Governor of Texas on the Green Party Ticket. I am not a politician; in fact, you might easily consider me an "anti-candidate."
I am an ex-problem drinker, addict, reprobate, raconteur, and one of a core group who tried to turn Rice University into a party school back in the late 60's. I am an artist, musician, poet, ex-world class maitre d', realtor, housepainter, captain, sommelier, accountant, business owner, networker, floral importer, technical writer, art gallery director, manager, piano salesman, survey taker, construction gopher and jackhammer specialist.
“I am not a politician; in fact, you might easily consider me an anti-candidate.”
I was raised an Army brat, and my political experience is limited to winning the Veteran of Foreign Wars "What Freedom Means to Me" scholarship in 1968, involvement in the Rice University Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), runner up to student council president at Alamo Heights High School, member of the Woodlands Homeowner Association (Indian Springs) and delegate to the State Democratic Conference (for Dennis Kucinich) in 2004.
I am running for office because our State and our Nation are ready for significant change.
The current political process is not representing the people. I am a true Populist candidate with absolutely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
I will do as the voters of the State of Texas instruct me to do. Period.
